Overview
Draxxin (tulathromycin) Injectable Solution by Zoetis is a long-acting macrolide antibiotic indicated for the treatment and metaphylaxis (control) of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni, and Mycoplasma bovis in beef and non-lactating dairy cattle, as well as swine respiratory disease (SRD). BRD is the most economically significant disease in the beef cattle industry, and Draxxin is one of the most widely used and trusted single-dose antibiotic treatments available. A single subcutaneous injection provides therapeutic drug concentrations in lung tissue for up to 10 days — eliminating the need for multiple-day treatment regimens and reducing handling stress on sick animals. Draxxin is also approved for metaphylaxis — treating the entire at-risk pen when BRD is diagnosed in a portion of the group. The 50 mL vial is the smaller-format option — well-suited for cow-calf operations, small herds, and producers who treat individual animals rather than running large-scale metaphylaxis programs.
