Zilco Mullen Mouth Liverpool Driving Bit
The liverpool mullen mouth driving bit gives a more gentle feel in the mouth and allows more room for the tongue. This is a very popular bit amongst carriage drivers.
The liverpool is a very popular bit for carriage driving. It offers several rein positions depending on the severity required. The softest position, called smooth cheek, has a snaffle like action with the curb not really being brought in to play. This setting is reserved for the most sedate driving horses and does not offer a great deal of control. A slightly stronger setting, rough cheek, allows some curb and poll action to be brought in by the liverpool. Following this the slots or bars can be used with the most severe settings furthest down the bar bringing increasing curb and poll pressure.
The mullen mouth liverpool has a curved mouthpiece giving more room for the tongue and is slightly more gentle than the straight bar or jointed liverpool driving bits.
