These marathon style shaft loops are supplied as standard in all Single SL, Single SL SportZ and Single SL Sliding Backband Harness sets.
They are made from 1″ wide strapping with stainless steel buckles. There is also a quick release option available, which is a popular choice for vehicles with closed end shafts.

What are Shaft Loops?
Also known as tugs, the shaft loops support the shafts of the carriage on the driving saddle. Their purpose is simply to guide and support the shafts. If the vehicle is correctly balanced there should be no weight placed on the tugs when the passengers are all on board. The shafts should appear to “float” within the tugs. The tugs also have a secondary breaking function due to the tug stops on the shafts. When the vehicle is stopping or going downhill the shafts run forward slightly in the tugs until they reach the tug stops. The majority of the breaking must always be carried out by the breeching so this really is just an extra system.
